Each year Arts and Business Cymru, the organisation that exists to promote links between the arts and the commercial sector in Wales, presents awards for outstanding achievements.
In June 2009 The Information Network’s Carl Grainger was shortlisted for the Individual of the Year award for his support of Wales’ premier chamber orchestra, The Welsh Sinfonia.
Rose-marie de Lloyd, manager of the Welsh Sinfonia, commented
“Carl has been pivotal in helping the Welsh Sinfonia review its raison d’être and in building a consensus in the Board of Trustees in favour of a more ambitious artistic programme. He has led the development of a new, three-year business plan that sets out challenging objectives based on the belief that Wales is in desperate need of a fully professional, permanent chamber orchestra and that the Welsh Sinfonia is well placed to fill this role.
Although all Trustees have been involved in developing the plan none had previous business planning experience and it is fair to say that it would not have been completed as quickly, or with such an ambitious aims, without Carl’s leadership and guidance.
We are grateful for Carl’s help and delighted that he was one of the three finalists in this year’s awards”
